Given it some thought and although I wanted the Red one the Black one I have coming soon will suffice. If it was delayed at all I would have been keen to get your red one instead. Its not delayed as I have just tracked the vessel it is on with the VIN. Interesting that the GTI is coming from Germany via Durban, South Africa! Cheers

The standard A/C goes full manual in the 2011.5 changes

2 days ago ordered a polo gti WITHOUT the Comfort Pack (est del end April), as I was told climate control is standard and the comfort pack simply upgrades it to DUAL (separate passanger controls). However if the standard is going to be downgraded I'll need to change my order.

To anyone who's got one or otherwise know
- what is the standard a/c now?
- what is the difference and when will the (downgrade?) to "full manual" occure?...does 11dot5 mean May or is it already here.

My ignorant dealer doesn't know.

Also I've just found out this morning from this forum that "Panoramic Electric Glass Sunroof" is an option. Anyone got a link to a photo? Is "Panoramic" just a marketing term or is it an extra large sunroof? My ignorant dealer didn't know it was an option. Not impressed.

Car comes without climate controlled air-con as standard(semi -automatic in this case). You should get an option of comfort pack which includes following:
-Automatic Climate Control Aircon
-Automatic Dimming Rear-view Mirror
-Rain sensing wipers"

Panoramic sunroof is a large sunroof, with sliding option.

I ordered my Polo GTI in December 2010. Latest update is that my order is still with VGA and they cannot process/send it to HQ Germany until they get the go-ahead, something about needing a volume amount to start a production run. VGA say that they may get more info in early Feb. So ETA....who knows, might even be the end of the year which is ridiculous. Order a car and get it in a year? who else but Volkswagen

Yep, same story here as GTI JOE, ordered in december, goes into the first aussie production run, ETA around September. This is a PITA, but after reading another thread, this could have something to do with the 5 door GTI getting loaded on the boat in Germany, then picking up 3 door GTIs in Spain, regualar Polos in South Africa, then onward bound.... As per this listing, wonder if it's the same for the Polos....Disregard the dates by the way, basically it looks to be an 8 week journey, so if the car is here at September 1, boat theoretically leaves 1 July....

Hey Gav, I was under the impression that all Polo GTIs (5dr and 3dr) were being built in Spain? Hopefully shipment will arrive before September. As Monty Python would say, "always look on the bright side of life"

There was another thread here in the polo 6R section that the guy said he was tracking the boat with his car on it and it had left germany. 2 dealers I have spoken to here in Vic have both said the 5 doors were german, 3 doors are spanish. guess we will find out when they get here!

They also asked where that damn fish went to and bugger me if I haven't found it yet!!

Yes I tracked my car. It is a 5door. The car for received for loading in Bremerhaven, Germany. So YES it seems the 5door is made in Germany.

Could i ask who gave you the information to track your vehicle? dealer or VGA? and what was the type of information eg. VIN or COM number?

The 11th character in your VIN will tell you where it was built.

Even though my car shipped from Bremerhaven in Germany, the VIN indicates that it was built in Pamplona and I'm guessing that all right hand drive Polos are built at either Y=Pamplona or U=Uitenhage.

Thanks for the clarification. My 11th is Y. So you were correct I bought a friggin car from the Spaniards. At least they're the best soccer playing, bike riding and tennis playing nation.

I doesn't make sense that they would take the cars to Bremerhaven from Pamplona unless there were some final checks and QC to be performed by the krauts.

So maybe we still can consider them as German-made even though they're not.
