Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • looking at my options- polo gti or mk6 golf gti

ok, im waiting til the end of the month til the polo gti hits the dealer showroom, but my options right now are to get the polo, with some options, and it will be around the $30k mark.
alternatively, i am looking at a used mk6 gti, 3 dr manual (i want manual as i tend to get bored and sleepy when i drive and a dsg/auto would only worsen the sensation). im thinking at used mk6 can be gotten for close to $35k with 10-15k km.
ive had a look at the std polo and the sizing is fine, interior was decent. the 3dr golf was also perfect for my needs as well.
ill just have to wait i guess til it actually comes out and seehow the dsg appeals to me.

anyone have any thoughts on the comparison of the 2? polo gti vs golf mk6gti

Take both for a drive and see how you feel don,t sign up on the spot take time and you will be happy.I would go the polo but thats me.I love having been the only driver and that new car feel, full 3 year warranty, no rta transfer if ya buy used ya pay 3% rta transfer .The dealer does every thing if its new all i did was insurance and pay dealer and bingo there is my new car ready to go all fuelled up drive away. Also i would get a 2011 build car .

I would go the Pogo GTI.
1.4Twincharged in that light weight frame is going to move quite quickly, especially with a tune.
