  • Initial thoughts on the new polo

    Hey all

So I've had the car three days now, and i thought I'd post my initial observations and feelings.

The first thing i noticed about delivery was that the trim around the windows wewre all aged. I chatted to the dealer and he said it was an oxidizing effect when it travels on the boat and should have been detailed. Nonetheless they will fix it. Other than that delivery was fairly smooth

    Now the car

I have had many cars in the past ten years, from a 8000rpm revving sportive corolla, to a 300kw worked xr6 turbo ute, to a forester turbo. This car is a little ripper. It drives better than i remember. The engine is very willing, smooth and 6 speed manual gearbox veery slick. The only thing that occurred to me is in first gear. I'm not one that rides the clutch and there's a small flat spot at about 2500rpm where there's just no power. A bit annoying but i learnt to drive around it.

The sports option is a must. On The 215/40/17 continental tyres that came with it, the car rides so flat around corners, like a go cart, yet is smooth enough on our harsh Aussie roads. The ride is any short of sensational and so well tuned for our roads.

Build quality is good, and whilst the doors don't have that thump, i wouldnt expect it to seeing as it is a small car with small doors. Leg and head room surprisingly large, even with a baby seat in the back.

I took the audio option with the rns510. For me this is a cheap audio upgrade for a great interface, especially if you are an iPod usesr. I already have the sat nave option in the tiguan so this is very similar, just no nav. Sound quality is very reasonable considering it is a stock system.

So far so good. Thought i would let all of you who have been waiting, it is worth the wait. More updates to come.
