Hey I'll most likely be getting the personalised plates too.. Would the dealer pick them up for you and fit if they were ready earlier? Or does the car comes with the standard plates and you must put the new custom ones on yourself?

If you let them know before they register your car then they should be able to fit them for you. I just forgot to with mine so they assumed i didn't have any.

Picked mine up about 6-7 weeks ago... Ordered it back in May... Got mine through Northstar at Kippa-Ring (they're owned by Norris Group as well)... Don't have personalised plates yet Want "CASP3R" really bad!! LOL

I don't know how much customisation you get for your plates in QLD but what colour scheme are you both looking at? With the Pepper Grey I was thinking white writing on black background would suit best.

Also Jaeden are your new plates the standard normal size? 372mm x 134mm is quoted as normal over here, so I'm guessing that suits the Polo best but there is also the option for slimline here in WA which is 372mm x 100mm, perhaps this looks better?

I've actually got the Black with white writing, which you'll see this week sometime on this forum, they are the 'slimline' plates too, I've tried them on and the colour def suites the car.
I don't know what colour options there are here either, I got mine as an 18th Birthday present lol.

I went with Aussie Plates with my Polo, always liked the Aussie ones or would have went with the Star Sign version, I was lucky my brother wanted some plates as well and he ordered them with mind and the dearler even fitted them on his car for him, probably helped that his car is a Golf.

Received a call from VW today, picking up my car in the first few weeks of Janurary 2011 instead of end of December, it was an option VW have been asking customers that I suppose had cars coming at the end of the year, my car will now be 011 instead of 010 model, if that changes anything features wise I'm not sure.

Has anyone ordered a Polo in the last month or so and been given a delivery date? Lots of people seem to be quoting delivery times of 3-6 months but don't seem to see any times for people ordering more recently....is it still a long wait?

I ordered one last week and they said February.. but I wouldn't be too confident about that. However the dealer had already ordered a set amount of build spots so my car will just be one of those and they will add the colour/upgrades to suit what I selected.
