    hilarious.

Please re think your idea i have been in your place years ago and it ends up costing more in the end.I would put all my effort into paying off your golf and then think about changing cars after you do a long test drive of the polo.I to believe debt free cars go faster.Do not trade in your car just sell it online otherwise you loose too mutch capital. My polo i lost about $3000 a year over 3 years i owned it.It was one of the best cars for resale i have owned. If i had sold in 1st 6 months i would have lost too mutch .3 years is as short as i would keep my next polo for.

I'm a motor mechanic / engineering paraprofessional thingy. Just speaking from personal experience (thousands wasted on "improving" cars) and observing others (taking out 5 year loans then deciding they want to go to Europe for a year & trying to sell car & pay out loan).

Cars are fun but sometimes you have to have a think about where the money is going.

Huh? Where was this tested? There us no pricing on the Polo GTI yet, let alone side BT side comparisons for Aus models...

If you like the design of the old Polo GTI, they are cheap. Mine is likely only worth $20k and is a fun car. Often a tastefully modded one waiting for a buyer.

As you have already copped a bunch of depreciation, live with it or go second hand IMO.

                Europe? In Public's Head?

But seriously let me know anyone thinks Polo GTI will beat Golf GTI flat out?

Well the Polo GTI does have the same 0-100 time as the Golf GTI? And really... on public roads you will rarely go over that speed.

Im guessing that Golf will have more power all the way through to its top speed, but 99.9% of GTI owners will never push the car that far.

Hence why i bought the TSI, there is no point as much as they are sexy beasts there are too many mobile speed cameras/safety cameras now that every suburb you go into these days is a revenue making trap for the Government....

Cars are tuned differently in Europe. Cant say I know which is faster, I think that stock vs stock you are likely correct.

I have a Polo NA... And I am no way a motorhead, and I am absolutely convinced that 0-100km (most frequently 0-60km on our roads) I am not that far behind a TSI or TDI for that matter. Because I bought this car for its looks and functions. And would definitely get a Golf if they had a cheaper 3 door model.

I just don't believe a stock Golf GTI would be beaten by a stock Polo GTI... And we don't even have to get started on the potentials available for a Golf when compared to those available on the Polo...
