Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. Hi,

    we are looking at getting a new polo TDI DSG, what were your wait times;

    as quoted by the dealer?
    actual?

we have been quoted a 1-2 months wait times and after reading this website we are sceptical....

is it possible the wait times are shorter because we are looking at a diesel ?

    thanks for your replies!!!

One to two months would be if the car you've ordered was already made and is on the way to OZ. If it is going to be build then expect 3 months or more.

Where are you getting your Polo?

Quite a few dealers here in Syd have the TDI in stock. You probably should visit a few to see if you could buy a floor stock.

Took me 4 months, ordered in May, built in July, picking up 14 Sept.
Its a 77TSI DSG, but agree with BR @ ON, some dealers in Melbourne have TDI's in stock too.

There appears to be a considerable delay for anyone who has ordered the RCD510/Audio/MDI pack. Seems (by all accounts) that VW has low stocks of these items and this has had a considerable effect on proposed delivery times.

We ordered in June.....ETA is late November.

I was quoted 3 months for a 77TSI DSG, but that was 2 months ago and not a word from the dealer yet -presume it is going to be held up by the RCD510 delays.

I know VW South Yarra had a yellow TDI with Sports pack about a week ago, can't remember if it was DSG though.

I put my deposit down in May and was told by end of September at the latest.
I still have no VIN though so likely it still hasn't been built yet or my car has gone to someone else (who may have paid more perhaps) which wouldn't surprise me. Business as usual I guess, customer service is not a priority it would seem. I could be wrong offcourse but that's the perception I have at the moment.

The wait for my 77TSI has now blown out to 6 months! I put my deposit down in mid July and was told mid October for delivery. Called the dealer today to check up and was told it now won't be built until late November with delivery Jan 2011 !. Last I heard (a month ago) the parts had been confirmed, which was supposed to be good news according to the dealer. Dealer did not even bother to call me when the reports came out at the end/beginning of the month to advise -had to call them to get the news....anyone else experienced excessive delays, or lack of communication?

No, mine just arrived Sydney ports as promised. If you cannot afford to wait, always look for floor stock... They (TSI & TDIs) are not that rare nowadays, but compromise on options will have to be made of course.

Congrats - hope you enjoy the new car and thanks - but the GTI is looking increasingly tempting. May well be in before my TSI.

Thank you, Me too, and the option of Xenon lights!

I wonder how much it cost to put it on normal new POLOs...

I rang the dealership today, to confirm if a build date has been advised.

                              Story so far.....
                              Deposit paid (late June 2010)
Confirmation email from dealership - 1/7/10
Dealership update email - 17/8/10 (no change)
Visited dealership - 31/8/10 (no change - no info available)
email from dealership - 17/9/10 (no change - no info available)
email from dealership - 20/9/10 (unable to provide a build date)
Phone call to dealership - 29/9/10 (unable to provide a build date, expectation is that a truck will arrive at the dealership soon, with our car on it....until then, no idea whether it's been built, sent or otherwise).

In all fairness, it would appear that a particular employee who is able to Sherlock Holmes this information is currently on leave. I have been promised a screen capture of the vehicle details today...it may/may not include the VIN number. Some of the difficulties include trying to get an insurance quote. It's almost impossible to do this, when you don't have a first day of registration, nor can you confirm if the vehicle has been built. I know, I could always ring the insurance companies, but I don't have the time or inclination to sit on a phone for hours on end.

Has anyone else been able to gain more information than I have received, for their TSI Polo build/order?

back to (trying to) be patient.
