Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • HELP: I have a headlight issue

    Hi All,

I have a 6R 77tsi sports pack. Halogen lights with DRL.
I have no low beam, (dipped beam).
Start the car and only the parking lights are on. Rotate the lights selector switch 2 clicks to the right and still no low beam.
The high beams work as expected. You can flash the highs buy pulling the stalk in when the light switch is all the way to the left and the high won't stay on when you push the stalk forwards, but stay on when the light switch is all the way to the right.
I have pulled the bulbs and tested OK. Checked the fuses and they are OK. No warning lights on the dash.
Do these cars have a relay?
    Any controller for the DRL?
Could it be the main light selector switch?

Do you have power and ground at the low beam bulbs?

I would say yes to ground as all the other lights in each headlight unit works, only the low beam are out.
Don't have a wiring diagram to check.

I think it may be the main switch. Anyone in Adelaide have one I could try?
