Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi

All the lights in the wagon are LEDS but the boot one.

Its quite awd and I wonder if theres any compatible LED that suit the car boot?

    Thank you

    Hi Neal

Did this last week with a festoon LED from Autobarn. It doesn't appear to affect the Canbus so no error.

Simply pry the assembly out and match the festoon size to the LED version

    Regards Nick

      How about the Colour?

      Do they match the original?

        Yep, exactly the same.

        You'll find it here.

The contact ends need to be very slightly bent inwards since it's out by no more than 2mm. In fact it does fit in, but just not snuggly enough to stop the LED array from spinning around.

        Regards
        Nick

I was looking to do this too, will have to make a trip to Autobarn.
Find it very strange that every other light in the car is LED except this one.

            I did this today.
            The original bulb was an OSRAM 6411 12V 10W SV8,5-8 (41mm)

I purchased an OSRAM C5W LEDriving Cool White 41mm (360 degree) bulb; 264 Osram Long Life LED Retrofit Cool White 12V C5W 42mm Festoon Bulb

No issues with the size, straight swap, no issues with CANBUS either.

Perfect colour match and light intensity for the interior.

Don't waste your money on the cheap LED's out there!
