  • Start Stop Not Working? Worked only a day since Pick up

    Hi

My 132 TSI Comfortline only operate start stop for one day since I picked it up.

    Is it normal?

Hows your Passat start stop system working?

    Please

    Neal

Are you meeting the pre-requisits for it to work?

Engine at operating temperature, sufficient brake pedal pressure, that sort of thing.

It doesn't usually care about engine operating temp, well mine didn't anyway. Best way to tell is to hit the "Car" button on your infotainment unit until a picture of your car pops up. There should be an (a) Start Stop (or something like that) button. This will display the status of the start stop system.

Mine doesnt stop unless the brakes are on firmly. Then I lift off a bit and engine starts to allow a timely getaway from the lights.
No good if you just hold brakes on gently

There is a sensor on the brake master cylinder that measures pedal travel.

If insufficient pedal pressure is applied, it won't work.

Mine turns off before I come to a stop sometimes. Granted, it's like 1km/h, but it's still not stopped fully.

I do understand the pressure on the brake affecting the operation of start stop system.

The thing is that the info presented on the screen is always "power consumption is high".

The last time my old Golf did it. Its battery broke and cost me 500 to fix it.

It's a new Passat and I don't want to have the same issue again.

Turn the aircon off and see if it makes any difference. What else is on A flash stereo or something?????

Take it back and tell the dealer to work it out.
                  Cheers

It may be related with the air con as Sydney weather was changing yesterday.

The on/off system started to work again at night.

                        Very confused.

Does sound strange, because use of the aircon (mine is "on" all the time) does not seem to affect my stop/start system at all. Vehicle will shot down when idling at traffic lights, aircon running. When the aircon cooling circuit needs re-pressurising (requiring aircon compressor), the vehicle starts up again, then shuts off after a brief period.

                          Definitely weird.
                          Cheers

Will get a check up for sure if things getting worse.

Same here, although I've only had my GTI a week nothing has really stopped the stop/start system from working (ugh). Although on the drive home today I changed the circulation settings on the A/C and it disbled the SS system. I thought that was weird but I couldn't replicate it.
