Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Got tuning? Vw passat 206tsi

    anyone tried anything yet ?

looking to add 1 of these bad boys to the fleet after test driving and wondering if theres a big increase from the somewhat bland yet enjoyable (for daily situations) stock acceleration to something a bit more blood pumping when you put your foot down

anyone tried jb1 / jb4 or a flash tune yet and what have your experiences been?

currently have golf R and passat alltrack but the alltrack is a bit sluggish so looking to maybe trade in for 206tsi.

G'day, I have the JB4 in 206 wagon. Had it for about 3 months now.
As per my post back then, and still holds, a very effective upgrade!

      thats good to hear !

JB4 is definately under consideration if we're getting one.

How do you find it on petrol with the JB4 compared to stock. what are you getting per tank *obviously driving style plays its part

Just returning from an urgent trip from Sydney to Canberra and back. 7.9l/100.
Not pushing it of course. I cant really perceive a noticeable consumption increase given my driving style. Just better for overtaking.
Happy to put you in touch with the guys who put it in. Very professional and nice people!

Given this is a Tuning thread, I thought I would talk about some stats gained from a trip to the drag strip.

          In Stock Form
0-100 ~ 5.0 sec, (not 5.5 stated by manufacturer). (Sedan w/Sunroof & ~50kg of audio gear, nothing taken out)

          1/4 Mile Stats
          13.533 Sec @ 163.03 km/h
          60' 1.996
          330' 5.643
          660' 8.682
          660 Speed 129.82 km/h
          1000' 11.307

Quite a capable car in stock form. With a stage 1 tune you'd probably see numbers in the high 12's and true 0-100 of ~ 4.5 sec.

                      - Disalble the Auto Hold (button)
                      - Disable Stop/Start (button)
                      - Press the ESP/ESC button to turn it "off", you can use either of the two settings "ESC Off/ESC Sport" - Note, this will disable front assist and put an exclamation mark up on your dash (no need to worry, it's perfectly normal).
                      - Put the car into "S"
                      - Put your foot firmly (yes quite firmly) on the brake
                      - Put your foot down on the accelerator. If the car tries to work against the brake then it's not engaged, if its engaged it should rev happily to ~ 4krpm and then bounce off that
                      - Release brake to take off

There is no visual message/aid to indicate your are in launch control mode.

                            hey guys.

any updates with the how the tunes and jb4s are going in the 206 passats ?

also maybe if you've done any other mods that you think are worthy of sharing

There is at least 1 guy on here with a JB4. I am waiting to address any warranty concerns before I think about a JB4.
