Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Trouble with Infotainment System - Passat B8 2015 R-Line 140TDI

    Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing some frustrating issues with my VW's infotainment system. My car won't recognize any CarPlay devices with a genine Apple cable, which is puzzling because the same devices work perfectly in other vehicles. Additionally, it won't allow me to connect via Bluetooth. I have removed the devices, rebooted, reset to factory settings.
As a last ditched effort I purchased a Wireless Carplay adaptaer. Nada. Put it in my Wifes Volvo and worked instantly,.

Here are some details about my system:
    • Model: B8 Passat 2015 R Line -
    • Infotainment System Version: MHI2_ER_VWG11_S2103 (MIB2 Series from Harman)
    • CarPlay Issues: Devices recognized in other cars but not in my VW.
    • Bluetooth Issues: Unable to pair or connect devices. Its recognises device but then will not allow it to connect.

Has anyone else faced similar issues? Any advice on troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. I'm also considering if a firmware update might help, but I'm not sure how to check if my current firmware is outdated or how to safely update it.
    Thanks for your help
