Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Battery

    After only 6.5 years my Passat’s AGM battery is failing.i thought i’d get longer especially since it’s an AGM, disappointing to be honest. My fathers 2007 Passat only recently changed his original battery. I suspect the fact it’s only a 69ah battery is part of the problem, i mean why do Mercedes and other models come with 80ah batteries? My car is fully loaded with heated seats and heated steering wheel etc.

    Anyway my question. My battery is in the boot. I noticed it has an extra screw hole for a larger battery, does anyone know if a 80Ah would fit for sure? Anyone on here fit one or did their car come with one fitted?

    For a 2016 Passat wagon (boot mounted battery) OEM parts list 2 x EFB batteries with 93ah/520a
    000 915 105 EE
    JZW 915 105 AE
    and 1 x AGM battery with 92ah/520a
    000 915 105 CE

    The OEM AGM battery (68ah/380a) is 000 915 105 CC
    Flipper Dog
    Now - T-Roc R, Audi Q5
    Past VWs- T-Roc R-Line, Golf 6, 7 and 7.5, Touareg 7L and 7P, Passat B5.5, Polo MK3, Polo MK4 and GTI
