Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I have a 2017 Passat B8 BiTDi 240bhp with 300k on the clock. 2 annoying problems have developed and at the same time. It could be a coincidence.

Firstly my keyless entry has failed. I get the message “ keyless entry system faulty” on the dash with multiple beeps. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect the fault disappears for a day but returns. No fault codes on VCDS.

Secondly my start stop isn’t working too well. I get the message “ Engine must be running”. I only ever get this message when the car is doing a regen but now it just appears for no reason. It now appears even if the car isn’t doing a regen. When my battery is low I usually get “ power consumption high” so i doubt it’s the battery.

My battery isn’t 100% to be fair however according to my battery monitor my voltages are no worse than they were a year ago and I never had these problems then.

    Any ideas?
