Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Carista on a 2021 R-Line

    Hello,

I just recently picked up a new to me 2021 R-Line wagon and bought a Carista OBD plug to do some of the mods that they list of their website such as allowing undertaking so I don't have to worry about muppets hogging the middle lane.
I put the device into the OBD port and fired up the app, and when I selected customisations, it spent about 5-10 minutes scanning the car, then only showed a few of things that Carista list on their website for Passats (Carista, and none of the things that I really wanted. I tried to apply one of the settings that did show up (show A/C fan level in auto mode), but that didn't work.

Have other people had a better experience? I'm not opposed to spending more for OBDEleven or something else, but it seemed that Carista would do what I need for now.

    Thanks.

Contact the Carista support if they have one to get the help you need. Otherwise buy a genuine VCDS cable from Ross Tech.

Ross Tech have a web site and support email address and support Forum and will tell you if there system can do what you want
on a 2021 Passat which I presume you mean by a "2021 R-Line Wagon". On the newer VAG group cars there is additional security ( called SFD) which limits some of the changes possible on some of the modules without going through the dealer or paying for tokens to unlock the module you want to make changes to if they are SFD protected. OBD11 have this token system integrated into their product now and Ross Tech are still apparently negotiating with VAG to include it.

Just buy an OBDELEVEN or get someone to do it for you for a few beers

Does the 2021 Passat actually prevent you from undertaking on the left?

Turning off that silly undertaking feature was the first thing I did with mine, easily done with the OBDeleven.

              Is it a Passat thing?

My Arteon has always allowed undertaking on the left - though I have lane assist disabled in the dashboard settings. Or perhaps the previous owner disabled it.

Thanks for the replies. I contacted Carista support and they suggested installing the beta, so I did. It offers more options, but not the ones I'm after. I'll do some more research and work out the best move.

                  Is it a Passat thing?
                  I've also experienced it on a T-Roc.
