Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

    Missing Fob - Where best to buy?

    Hi All,
    We just pucrhased a 2018 B8 comfortline and when we went to collect we were only given 1 key/fob.

    We need to buy another (or maybe 2) and would prefer not to spend dealer prices. Is there somewhere that suplies OEM. We have our independent service guy who can program for us.

    Is that right? came with only 1 remote key fob! Was it a new purchase as I gotta say I got 2 with my new B8 Passat ... hmm

            That's reasonable. Can you tell me which dealer? Last I spoke with it was almost 600 dollars.

                Search around the local key cutters. We found one near us with the technology to cut Mk3 and V Golf and Skoda keys and charges around $120 per. That's Buranda shopping centre Brisbane also, sorry. Probably not quite enough savings to warrant a day trip?

                  They arent just a key Its like a remote and has a small key fitted into it for emergencies

                    Ok maybe that's outside their scope. I had no trouble getting the whole fob replaced for the MkV, they just needed one to copy from .

                      Is the Mk5 a Kessy fob??? I was told dont lose one because only a real one will work
