Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Read your manual. It's all there.

If you don't understand the manual then take the advice given to you.

Why are you stretching the services to 17k? The service intervals in Australia are 12m/15k, whichever comes first. If you know anything about the difference between Australia and Europe in dust and pollen loadings and temperature variations you would understand why.

It is very likely that you are meeting one of the "severe service conditions" and therefore stretching the service intervals would be inappropriate. It's all in the manual. Go crazy, have a read.

f the OP cares to read his manual in the section about "Oil" it tells you to refer to the body sticker which is in the front of the service book in my car and it tells you which regime its under

EG MIne says Q14 which is "fixed service regime" as are ALL VW in Australia

Yes, that $45 was on special price. 1L should be like $20, and according to someone here, it should be free to top up at dealer.

Why should the dealer give you free oil Once perhaps if the car is new

                    .
Working on that theory Woolworths should top up my groceries for free as well.

I got 10L of Titamium LL 504/507 for $75 a few eeeks ago because I found an ad online and shop honoured it even though it was possibly a mistake
