Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Brakes Passat B8

    Hi,

Can anyone technically minded tell me more about the brakes on the Passat B8 more specifically the R-Line.

Are they from an Audi, how many pots, general specs

Tried googling, not much info out there.

    Cheers, G

You would most likely have 312mm front disc's and the 287mmish rears with single piston calipers that's what vw put on most cars of that type if you had the 206tsi it would be the 345mm front with 310 mm backs also single piston calipers
2017 Golf Alltrack 135tdi All options
19 inch Brescia Wheels Golf R brakes front and rear
    Calipers painted Candy apple gold
New rear sway bar and linkages

When you say R-Line, I am assuming you are referring to the 206TSI R-Line?

As the R-Line Optional Package does not change the brakes on any other variant.

The 206TSI R-Line has both front and rear ventilated Discs.
      F) 340mm x 30mm (vented)
      R) 310mm x 22mm (vented)

Solid rear discs on the other variants.
      F) 312mm x 25mm (vented)
      R) 300mm x 12mm (solid)

sorry, just another question. Are they the same brakes on the Audi S3? the look like my mates but without the caliper clip. Or are they bespoke to the pasaat?
