Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Foggy headlights

My MY2013 Passat headlights has started to 'fog up'. It seem that unlike my old Golf 5 that was all foggy on the surface, it seems to happen inside the glass. Does anyone know if there's a way to fix these? The golf headlights could be fixed by (a lot of) polishing.Click image for larger version

Wondering if you ever found a fix as I have the same issue and mine appears like it is on the inside of the lens as well.

    Cheers

Same here in my B7. I also see the fog inside after hand washing the car.

No solution yet. It's definitely not moisture though.

Mine is not moisture either. Almost looks etched or like tight swirls from an orbital sander.

I guess it's plastic aging, from the sun and the heat from the light bulb.
It's IN the plastic, wont come off by sanding/polishing.

Ok, I think that should be covered by statutory warranty then? a five year old car with foggy headlights?

I agree, but following some experiences I have had with VW recently over some other issues I am doubtful they would do anything to assist with this.

Yeah my MY11 passat has this, its weird as during the day the lenses look clear but headlights on you can see fine chip like defects
