  • Passat Alltrack B7 - Sunroof leaking

Just got a picture message from my wife with these heartbreaking images

    Panoramic sunroof Leak

Anyone know what the process with dealing with this is. Our 3 month statutory warranty runs out on 22/3 so would like to sort it out asap.

    Sorry to hear mate!
Keen to see what the outcome is.

Have you checked for blockages in the drain holes?

      Nope haven't touched anything yet.

Can't find my manual, I had it out when I first bought the car for some reading and it's been misplaced.

Was a similar issue with my GF's tiguan, drain tubes were the problem, used the air compressor and blew it out, no more water leaking inside.

Not sure if the Passat is the same but I was able to just get to them after removing the a pillar and pulling on the roof lining a little bit

Tiguan is a 08. Hmm not sure how it will go under stat warranty, I guess it depends on the dealer.

I've tipped water down the gutter into the drain and it's running through. Could it merely be volume?

I ran some whipper sniper line down it as well as flushing the drain with water. Got a bit of debris from the drain but it runs pretty clear.

I left it last night to see if there was any improvement, however I got about 500mm of water in a bucket I set up over night.

When we did the test with the tiguan light rain wouldn't be a issue as it would drain away through the partially blocked drain tubes but I got my Gf to sit in the car and ran the garden hose over it and it leaked through onto the roof liner.

Try get the drain tubes off and run a run a blast of air from a air compressor through them, that will clear out anything further up also

So yesterday I called the selling dealer to arrange for them to sort it out under stat warranty which they said they would do, but I decided to have my local VW do a final inspection of the car before that stat warranty runs out tomorrow just in case anything else was amiss.

While it was there they did the diesel recall with my permission, gave it a full wash & clean AND cleared the drainage tubes on all 4 drains and performed a leak test. It has now passed A VW dealer test for water clearance.

About 45 minutes after I picked it up we copped a massive storm with heavy rain and 90+ km/h wind speeds....... all good! [emoji106]

So my question now is, as long as we get everything dried out, can I expect any issues after having a roof leak like this with other components? Wiring etc?

I don't think you will have any more issues, just based on my experience with the tiguan. However make sure the floor area is dry incase you have Bluetooth or a amp under the front seats.

You can use a dehumidifier to help with the drying process.
