  • RNS510 1/2 2016 Australia map update

    Hi all

I've been hearing whispers that the 1/2 of 2016s maps are or for the vw RNS510 sat nav for Australia ?

    Can anyone confirm this ?

Also does anyone have the cd ? The last one was $40.

    Thanks,

    Dan ( 2011 Passat sedan)

The V9 maps are available now. Eurocar Upgrades has the DVD for $199; the dealers for about $500. EuroCarUpgrades

I bought an RNS 510 off EBay and fitted it to my T5 early this year. It had V8. So, for example, on a trip up the Hume Highway from Melbourne to Sydney, it would nag me as I went "cross country" around Tarcutta, Holbrook and Woomargama. Those bypasses have been there for a couple of years. V8 didn't know that.

V9 now knows about them. So the map database is much more up-to-date. I have yet to find anything amiss, but I've only had V9 for a month.

I think the high price is a consequence of the ultimate ownership of WhereIs - which is a Sensis/Telstra subsidiary.

I have forgotten about the cost of V9 already, but V8 used to irritate me every day.

I got V8 for $40, perhaps I will wait until V9 becomes this price.

Also to answer above question also, I believe VW release Australian sat nav updates twice a year,so the latter will be most up to date.
