  • Rear shocks for R36

I need to replace the rear shock absorbers on my 2010 R36. Any recommendations for brands or suppliers?

How sporty or firm are you looking for? Similar to OEM or something better?
Despite all the advances in technology, the ride/handling compromise is just that - a compromise. With firmer suspension comes better control but with a harsher ride.
    2007 Passat B6 3.2 litre V6 4Motion | Granite Grey | standard 17" Solitude wheels | tow bar
Mods: R36 steering wheel | HP DQ250 DSG tune | HPA Haldex performance controller | Koni sports yellow shocks | Eibach springs | H&R sway bars | Whiteline ALK | Kufatec E-MFA add on | Garage door button | Warning triangle retrofit | Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003s

      OEM or slightly firmer

These seem like a good deal, I assume the R36 would have the sports suspension?

R36 OEM shocks are a bit firmer than standard OEM - but I don't think greatly so.

Koni sports yellow are a high quality sports shock that give better control without being too harsh. Nobody will quote numbers but they might be 15-20% up on standard. Part number for rear is 8040-1352Sport.

Bilstein B6 are possibly a step firmer again ... maybe 20%+. So more control but firmer ride.
Bilstein B4 are more equivalent to OEM and B8 are similar to B6 but designed for a lowered spring.
One thing to bear in mind is - those people who are unhappy with Bilstein generally feel they are too hard.

FYI I went with some Bilstein B4's. Feel firmer but that may just be because the old ones were tired. An improvement in my opinion in any case.

            Thank you for the information.

Would you recommend Sachs? I think they are the OEM for R36?

Do you by any chance have
            Sachs part numbers for R36?
