Gear stick

Hey guys don't know if been asked before etc but wanted to know if anyone knows or has done it changed the push side button gear knob to something different. I have tiptronic gear stick but would like to change.

I think you can change them but you have to turn that plastic bit inside 90 degrees to suit front push button types but there is risk of snapping it then have to change out hole unit.
