Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MY11 Wagon - Powered Tailgate not opening

    Hi folks,
When I try to open my powered tailgate (on a MY11 Passat Wagon), it makes a loud vibrating/clicking sound, the tail gate tries to open, but i think the latch is stuck? Just before it got stuck, it was closing very hard, not normal.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks folks

    Lambo.

Ours did that and needed the latch mechanism replaced under warranty

I have had the gas struts fail, that can make it close very fast and hard

Thanks guys. I pulled the latch off, and apart. There is a plastic pinion with a worm drive at the end of it. The worm drive is broken off. There is also a spring inside the pinion, which I think is to return the drive back to the start position after being actuated to open the boot (maybe not the best description!).
Anyways, looks like I'll need a new unit - 5M0827505E 9B9. Found them on ebay (Original VW Heckklappenschloß 5M0827505E 9B9 Golf 6 5 Variant Golf Plus Tiguan | eBay), but will try to find Aus supplier tomorrow.

Any ideas out there on where I may be able to source one folks?

        Thanks

        Lambo
