Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • passat auto tailgate issue

    Hi all

I just bought a 2008 passat wagon and one of the bolts holding tbe tailgate motor to the hinge had broken off

I've removed the the hinge and taken the broken bolt out now I can't seem to line up the motor arms with the hinges

The motors are splined in such a way that they only go on one way and when I have them on tbey are in the closed position when the gate is open and no matter which combination of buton presses I use they don't seem to rotate to the open position so I can install the bolts

Is there a special setting or installation procedure as this is really doing my head in

I have fixed it by resetting and then repeatedly pressing remote button and motors returned to proper position. happy days
