  • Transmission over temperature fault

My wife’s B7 Passat has a radio fault where the speakers were boom, boom, boom continuously while driving.
volume did not control the noise, radio on or off no change. Changed to media and for a few days it stopped.
it returned and was unable to stopped.
Attempted to locate radio fuse but have no fuse layout, so I individually pulled fuses to isolate radio without success.

I removed the radio, unplugging all connections.
Now have a transmission over temperature alarm and no drive.
Scanned the fault and transmission sensor 1 is signalling 275 degrees and transmission 2 sensor is signalling 295 degrees when car is cold.
The alarms come up as soon as the ignition is turned on, with out even starting the engine.

I have checked all the fuses in the 3 fuse panels, reconnected the radio and hazard lights. Disconnected battery and rested.
    No success.
I have run out of ideas, any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Neil

Chances are both faults are unrelated so best to treat them as separate issues for the time being. Gearbox fault is obviously more worrying and therefore more important. With some luck you just need the gearbox temperature sensor replaced as it sounds like it has either been damaged or has just failed. The temperature readings of 275/295 are probably the default max readings those sensors are calibrated to read.

You should have an error similar to this if its the temperature sensor 17094 Transmission Fluid Temp Sensor (G93) Malfunction

You will need to get the car booked into a VW specialist to be diagnosed and arrange repair.

Cant offer any assistance with the radio sorry. You might have an amplifier issue. A radio antenna issue. etc etc. It wont be fuses because everything is working. If your radio wasn't working at all then first thing to check would be fuses.

Your profile shows you are in the Sunshine Coast region. If this is correct then perhaps try reaching out to one of these places:

If you are considering an alternative to the dealership for Volkswagen servicing or repairs then you have found the right place.
