Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Info for a 2014 VW Passat Alltrack

Check engine light on - P219600 code on - O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Rich Bank 1 Sensor 1. Can clear the code with the Ancel VD700 but comes back a week or so later. No other codes.
Car a bit noisier on acceleration. Still runs OK. Been strong smell of exhaust fumes if I have the drivers side window open.
Noticed today some oil/grease covering the right side of the turbo. See pic. Can't say I saw it before or not it's pretty dark down there but found it today with a torch.
    Any ideas??
Its going in to the mechanics but need to be better armed when going in.

A boost or exhaust leak can cause a rich code like that, try to pin down where it's leaking from.

The mechanic should be able to do a smoke test if it's a harder to find leak.

Had it for 4 hours testing in the shop. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. No codes on their scan. Said he cleaned up the oil/grease bit and tightened some hoses that were a bit loose. See how it goes now.
