Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • B7 headlight removal

    2013 v6 wagon.
Trying to remove the headlights to retrofit led globes (yes, I know)
I can get the leds in there, but the rear caps won't go on so I need to remove the headlights to fit them up properly

So far I've got the grille off, and two of the adjustment threads off (pic 1 and 4) and the lights are loose, but it feels like there is a bolt or something at the bottom stopping it from sliding out.

Do I need to drop the bumper away?is that just the 2 bolts on the wheel arch and the 4 on the radiator support?

The bumper needs to come off; check out the really early pictures in my image library there are bolts on the underside of the lights.

I was hoping that wasn't the case. Thanks again Mig

Done. All in all, the extra 10 bolts and 20 minutes made it so much easier.
I fitted up lightforce h7 low beam globes, and they went in pretty easy. As they use a separate (canbus compatible) driver module, I chose to remove the lights so I could mod the rear caps and mount the driver module properly. I couldnhave gotten the globes in, but with the amount of stuffing around to get the flexible heatsinks in and the drivers it was the right call to remove them
I probably should have taken pics, and can if needed.
