  • Searching for 2015 Bluemotion fuel tank

Try to make a long story short.

    Bought a 2015 Passat 2.0 TDi 140 Bluemotion sedan

1 week in, it's dead. Fuel system is contaminated with metal shavings created by wrong fuel added, discovery was made after I let the fuel run low and this is when the metal shavings began its work

I need a fuel tank, Volkswagen wants to replace the entire fuel system for a max pricing of $20K

I want him to "flush & clean" it....for less

I'm only here to see if I can score 1 for him on the cheap "just incase" car is a repairable write off (my God why didn't I just buy the Mazda 6 2018?)

I'm screwed, this car was for Uber, as I left my career to do this....now that is done and dusted I have no job and dwindling savings

I'm not sure if my car is in the right segment, it has a M7 motor in it,

    Hi

20K seems excessive but considering what need to be done , maybe is not.
For start, I would go and check local wreckers. Pretty sure, you can get parts you want much cheaper then dealer.

You also neeed to check some vw specialist who can check, do diagnostic and recommend next steps...

After you got all relevant information, you can decide if you want fix car or sell parts on internet...

For Mazda, do you really think they immune for this issue as well?

      Thanks

Well....I've done my homework (ex panel beater here) I've rang every euro wreckers in Australia. And rang every VW specialist in Qld for a 2015 Passat Fuel Tank.

No one has one and it's the ONLY reason why I landed here.

For one the model is still too new, so I'm shlt out of luck for any Fuel Tank. I see 2016 models and they don't fit my car, and thats the latest wreck sitting in a yard in Oz.

I sent my car to a VW SPECIALIST and they couldn't do anything as they just sent me away cause they couldn't get a read on the diag machine, I ended up having to take it to a Dealership for them to come up with the problem.

Thanks for the input....but I STILL need a Tank.

I just want a reply on "Hi I know where 1 is". Just saves me having to reply back with these long stories anyway appreciate the help I'm just exasperated.

As for MAZDA 6? I love Mazda 6 and sold my 1 for a VW. Being an ex panel beater I should have known better BUT! What's done is done

Why not just look for a B7 one as they started in 2010 and the 6 is also the same underpinnings

Never needed to do a tank on a mis-fuel.

Just drop it out and clean it. They're just a plastic vessel. No complicated baffles to deal with.

Maybe secure a magnet to the in-tank pump assembly when you put it back together, if you're concerned.

You could probably get your fuel system bits from someone like Denco, and save yourself a bit of money.

I've been told by the mechanic the tank for the 2015 model has only 1 other compatible fitting tank and that's the 2 wheel drive wagon version of same model.

Basically he's saying it won't fit. I've been out of the panel beating game for over 20 yrs now so maybe I might check his statement and ask around

My post says I have asked him to flush the system instead of replacing everything, I'm just here to look for options and a fuel tank is the next best thing

                Thanks
