Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • B7 3-dial Climatronic Retrofit into MY10 R36 - Wiring?

Do any wires need to be swapped over on the harness for proper functionality?

I am coming from the old 'MK5' style climatronics unit.

Hi mate, these are the instructions I got when I did mine :

The larger connector block that has 20 pins, need to swap pins 16 and 20. They are different gauge though so you have to cut and join

I also had to do the flap calibration, then do the compressor run in with VCDS.

    Hope this helps.

      Thanks!

Did you have to cut off parts of the faceplate to make it sit flush?

The back protrudes out at the top compared with my old B6 faceplate.

Mine is out of a 2014 Passat. I wonder if a faceplate out of a CC is a better match for the B6.

Yes I had to trim the faceplate to fit, was a pretty easy job though.
