Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Water in rear wheel arch

    Hi,

Its raining heavily over here and saw water seepage in both rear wheel arch where battery and reverse camera module is kept in Passat B7 MY 2011

I tried applying silicon sealant over the boot rubber seal Click image for larger version

Name:	Boot rubber seal with silicon01.jpg

Size:	206.2 KB
ID:	1868490 and I don't think water is coming from here.

I even checked leakage at small pipes coming from this rubber seal and they aren't leaking either.

Water could be other source of seepage??

About a year ago, I kept finding water pooled at the rear of the shelf where the battery sits on my B6 Passat. I would mop it up and it would return a few weeks later. I thought I might be causing it by the way I hosed the car when washing it. Then the problem stopped. I never did find where the water entered.
