  • R36 load click from brakes

    Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help. My R36 has developed a loud click crom the front right (I think) when pressing the brake pedal at low speeds. By low speeds I'm talking parking speed. It goes away once I start driving. It is just 1 click per pedal press and I can feel it in the pedal.

The brake pads and rotors are all less than 12 months old. DBA T3 with ATE ceramic. All the suspension is 100% stock. Car is an MY09 wagon (not sure that makes any difference?).

My mechanic seems to think it might be the control arm bush because they are a little old and slightly perished but I'm not so sure.

Another symptom (possibly completely unrelated) is on very hot days the steering makes a "crunching" noise and you can feel it in the steering wheel. Sort of like you can feel the gears in the rack rolling. Again goes away at speed.

    Thanks,
    Dom

Assuming all the fasteners have been torqued to spec (I don't do it but when all else fails...)
and all the shims are in place...

I'd be thinking it's the rubbers on the slider pins. They are relatively cheap (and easy) to replace. I'd also re-grease the slider pins with something fairly viscous
