  • B6 trailer wiring module

    Hi everyone,
I asked this in the wrong section earlier.
I'm trying to find a second hand towbar wiring system for my MY07 Passat. I've found one that's off an earlier b6 model but the part number on the module is 8p0 907 383. This seems to come up as a mk5 golf unit. Passat listing seems to be 1k0 907 383f. I think vw gave me that number but don't sell the part anymore.
Can anyone tell me if this will work in my car?
    Thanks in advance.

Before MY10, they're not pre-wired, so you need to buy the full wiring kit and wire it into the fuse boxes in the dash. A used wiring kit will very likely get damaged beyond being usable, as you need to know how to de-couple the locking mechanisms inside the fuse boxes, to de-pin the wires, which require a special terminal tool. You also need to pretty much gut the interior of both cars to swap it over.

    Looks like this:

If you've never done one before, it will take you forever to fit, and you'll break every plastic part you touch.

Thanks for the reply. I doubt the seller will be keen to remove the loom carefully and strip half the car out. Even if they are keen I'll have to fit it with no instructions.
Do you think that module number will work?
Are there any other good options? H.R. Don't want to sell their plug and play loom without the bar and theirs won't cancel the elec tailgate and reverse sensors.

The module itself is only part of the puzzle.

Assuming you're happy to pay for it, the genuine wiring kit is the way to go, if you want everything to work as it should. Comes with everything, including the correct module. Your dealer should be able to order one off the VIN. If they're no longer available, maybe provide you with the part number off the kit, to track down new old stock.

Which wiring kit is best for MY13? I assume it's wired to the back somehow, just need a harness with the correct plug?
