Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Noisy squeaky sunroof

I've got the big panoramic sunroof and when its retracting it makes a loud rubbing noise. Totally embarrassing when I'm showing off my awesome Passat to friends. Does anyone know how this can be fixed? I tried some silicon lubricant but it made little difference, its hard to know exactly which bit is causing the noise. I assume this is a fairly common issue?

It's till giving me hassles. I believe there the rails need lubrication and there was a PDF guide on how to get into the rails, what type of lube to use and where to apply it, but it's not active anymore (404 Not Found)

Anyone got a copy of this PDF?

      Hi all

I am also after guidance on the pano roof. I managed to get it quiet with some aerosol dry lube... but would rather do it the right way with the right stuff.

It is not as obvious as other sunroofs . You can’t see what runs on where from the outside.... anyone got tips?
