Smell of Petrol (Diesel) in the boot. What could it be??

The smell has been there for 2 weeks now. I brought the car back to the dealer and they reckoned that was the smell of the cleaning fluid that they used for pre-delivery. I was asked to open the boot for a night and the smell was gone but not 100%. Yesterday when I drove home, I opened the boot and the smell was there again. !!@#%!#$!.....Could anyone of you help me out as this smell really drove me nuts. Thanks!!

Not as strong as the first 2 weeks. I'd probably give it another week and see how it goes.
