Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Spark plugs.

G’dayguys – my 2011 Passat 118 TSI has hit the magical 60000k’s and it is time tochange the spark plugs.

I amhaving a bit of a hard time trying to find what plugs to put in it.

NGK listsa platinum part number for it [PFR7S8EG] but do not show an iridium equivalent.I would prefer to use iridium if possible but not absolutely.

There isan NGK iridium plug [BKR7EIX] which looks like it will do the job but it showsup as a slightly colder plug than stock which may not be the best choice in astock engine.

Failingall that, I’ll probably just end up using the Bosch platinum plug [FR5KPP332S].

Anyonehad any experience with plugs for these engines?

    Cheers.

Have a look at the Denso range. That's what I use and they are cheaper than NGK.
