Bought passat wagon b5.5 (finally, always wanted one) automatic 1.8T . i wona lowered the car a bit... coilovers or just low springs.... any suggestion would be great.. and where to get them from? cheers
I did a lot of research into upgraded suspension for my B6 Passat. I don't think the cost of coilovers can be justified in many cases for normal road use. Good ones are fairly expensive. If you want to lower your car a bit (say 30mm) with an uprated spring rate, I would suggest Eibach springs. If you want to lower even more (40mm), then I suggest H&R. My own personal opinion is H&R are too low due to kerb/ground clearance issues and that Eibach are a better choice.
I found that you can buy them from suppliers in Germany via eBay for nearly half the price in Australia as long as you have done your research and are absolutely certain you are ordering the correct part no.
I wouldn't change springs without changing shocks as well. The uprated spring rate should be matched to a similarly uprated shock. I suggest Koni yellows which might be easier to buy in Australia.
