  • R36 Arrival

Found this extract on VWG website:
    Accessible Privilege
The Passat R36 sedan starts at $64,990 and the Passat R36 wagon starts at $66,990 (1) and will be in dealerships from the 1st of June 2008. Pre orders can be taken now.

Looks like June delivery is realistic for some lucky owners afterall. Plus u get to beat the LCT.

Says the same on the VWA website (not sure if you are talking about the same website (Volkswagen Australia).

Yesterday it said will be in dealerships from the 3rd quarter 2008 - so it looks like they have brought it forward!!

the new government doesn't deserve thanks for anything....i say thanks to VW for bringing the delivery date forward to skip the LCT (if that was the reason).

Nice one Cro, I got it the first time!

Chatswood Calssic have told me a lot of the cars are arriving in June, but will be held back to the VWA certified official launch date...sometime in August.

That's a lot of R36's sitting in a yard somewhere!

Not that I am too fussed, but it is funny that my dealer called me to advise all preorders will be delivered to customers within 3 weeks of landing in the country.

I was told 5 mins ago that around the 18th June is the likely date of delivery.

Now I have to sell the GTI

I rang CCC again, and they have informed me that the car will not be available until August, so you are one lucky ba$ta#d R36Dreamer!!!

Apparently this is from someone on high at VWA with regards to them not letting the cars hit the street until August...I need an official response from someone!

That is 100% correct, I have officialy received a letter from VWA saying the same thing too. They are NOT allowed to hit the street , not until the OFFICIAL LANUNCH DATE which is Aug/Sep 2008. Again, if anyone here can get it before the launch date, that is absoulutely brilliant as we all wanted to know how the car goes. However at this stage, I pretty much doubted the VWA would alter the official launch date unless they wanted to kick it in before the LCT increases. Don't you find it a bit strange that we still can't find any reviews or videos about the R36 anywhere in the world. Volkswagen Group might have wanted the R36 to be released on the same date worldwide, just a thought.

R36 Dreamer could be the first and only one in Australia who would get the R36 before launch. Very lucky.

I'm curious what is the date of the official letter? Because the Aust VW website indicated that the R36 will be available in dealership from 1 June 2008. I would think that would be official too? So Official Official info should we believe? There seem to be a lot of contradicting information.

That was an email and received on the 5th May 2008 16:33.
May be that applies to WA only. God knows.

There wont be any R36 in WA until end of August anyway. So ...... good luck.

I might add they wont put it in writing - so maybe I am wrong.

Agree though that if it says they are available from June 08 on the website that is the date they will be released??

The only reason I particularly care is that I need to time the new arrival around the date of the disposal of my GTI - which I am going to put on the market.

I dont want to be without a car for too long.....

VWA have sent me an email in the past saying September, so I dont know what to believe.

The dealer I am using has been pretty honest thus far (for a dealer) - originally telling me October, then telling me third quarter, and now advising June.... so I dont know what the hell to believe.

I originally preordered with the belief that it would be October, so I wouldn't have cared if it was October - but just want to bloody know so I can sort out my finances.

Would be nice if we were all getting the same answer wouldn't it!!
