  • Crankcase breather issues

    Hey All

I noticed a split in a breather tee so started following it around the system. Found a crack in the crankcase breather that has opened up to a massive rupture.
I took off the relief (pancake) valve and cleaned the gunge in there (I reckon it couldn't have worked to limit vacuum because the gunge was sticking it open.)

Anyway, why would it fail so badly?
The plastic breather is blown apart and the rubber TEE that it joins to is ripped apart where the shank meets the cross.

Also, is the fact that this line (I think it goes to the vac reservior) is flat hampering its use? Is there a sensible replacement?

Replace as much as you can.

It fails because the material they use reacts poorly to heat and oil.
