Hi again guys,
Finally received my rotors and pads today (ended up going with QFM because I was a bit skeptical over the ceramics bite. Might give it a go next time).
One thing I completely overlooked was the brake wear sensors, which don't come with the pads.
Am I able to re-use the existing sensors, or am I better off getting a set from VW? From what I recall reading, I believe the R36s only have sensors on the front?
If someone more experienced would be able to cast their opinion, that'd be awesome.

The sensor is embedded in the pad so you would have to be pretty motivated to swap them over. Assuming that you are the kind of guy to look at your brakes more than every 15k, you can cut the wires off the old pads and electrically short them out, to stop the warning light coming on.Originally posted by MrWolf View PostHi again guys,

on my cc the sensor was only on the passenger front side.one of the reasons i didnt get the QFM was because they didnt have the sensor.

Well then, damn. Hmm, I considered circumventing the sensor (as I do have VCDS), but I'm not too keen on disabling safety features.
I probably should have been more thorough with the pad purchase, haha. I might keep the QFMs on the back and change the front set.

Just an FYI, i did a bit of reading about front pads as i was looking at EBC Red stuff and was told that there has been a lot of cases of warped rotors with them. I was originally going to get EBC rotors and pads until i read that on a few forums.R36

Yeah, I had seen a few similar reports about the EBC Reds. I've ended up replacing the QFM fronts with a set of Bendix General CTs which have a bit of an interesting write-up. Had never heard of this particular line from Bendix until our local brake guy mentioned it.

I don't classify brake wear sensors as a safety feature - more a "I don't get my car serviced enough / properly" feature.
If nothing else, they come on far too early & they don't account for uneven pad wear.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic
