Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi all, in just after a little advice and experience with regards to wheel options.

Currently my 2007 Passat (3.2FSI 4MOTION) has 235/45-17 fitted and im tossing up the options of 19" or 20". Keeping rolling diameter roughly the same i found that a 265/30-19 or 245/30-20 would be roughly suitable.

My question is, does any one here have experience dealing with larger trye eidths on this model? Would a 265 tyre fit at the front? Also is there any issues with a staggered fit on the 4Motion systems as i wouldnt mind 245 at the front then 265+ on the rear.

Any info woild be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I seriously doubt a 265 would fit up front.
Best to do a search on wheels in the passat section.

The other thing you need to worry about is load rating as a lot of the potential tyre sizes that fit 19 or 20 inch wheels aren't correctly load rated for the passat from memory so would be illegal to fit.

Oh ok cool, what load rsting should i looking at? I guess a 245 or 255 would be the better option. Is staggering still an option?
