I seem to recall this happening to me many years ago. I updated the firmware and it's been fine ever since.

Question is now what are the chance the unit will reset while updating and bricking lol..

I don't think I can do it .... As I don't know what version I have which is needed to know what to get, also don't have the maps CD/DVD so back to the original question...

Who wants to do it for me.

Its pretty straight forward, i wasnt able to get the firmware version off my unit so i ended up pulling the surround off removing the 4 screws that hold it in and reading the model/serial number off the sticker on top of the unit which was real easy.

Ok all done, was basic will give you that I usually snap plastic but all good...

So now can you confirm if I need maps disc or should I be ok

You can go to 4120 and yes you need a map disc. V7 is about $55 at present

While you had it out would have been a good idea to firmly check all connections

Yeah the cables looked ok...
Ok downloaded 4120 will install when I get home.

Can you please confirm if V7 is the latest maps and how big is the disc size?

Would be a good idea if you put a location in your sig because there is firmware and maps for Aus and for Europe and should only be put in the correct units.

This is an Australian forum and the 4120 is for here There is a separate one, also 4120 for Europe The Aus maps are about 600mb The European ones are several gig and wont go on an Aussie partitioned unit

So before I go ahead and attempt the update can you confirm I don't need anything else, shouldn't have any issues with Bluetooth and so on.

Put it in your location top right for future

Because you asked the size of the maps, sent up a red flag, nothing else.

No it should all still work I have the same unit and it has survived several updates

Will try fix it when I get home, using tapatalk on my phone that's probably why.
