Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

If you know the name of the boat on which your car is coming you can follow its progress using app FindShip (two versions Pro and Lite). I upgraded to the Pro version. If the car is manufactured in Germany, it most likely will be shipped from Bremmerhaven. It takes about 39 days to Sydney (having called in at Durban, Freemantle and Melbourne) then to Brisbane.
According to Austrade, a car carrier leaves Bremmerhaven for Australia every 18 days. So in theory, if you know when the car rolls off production, add a day or two for transport to Bremmerhaven, then search the car carriers. I think VW use the same company.
Again knowing the boat name, you can look at the port schedule (e.g. Freemantle, Melbourne, Sydney=Port Kembla) to see the estimated time of arrival and departure once the boat is within a few days of arrival.
    Enjoy your new VW.

You could also look up the VIN on WW site, this will tell you the boat and it's schedule.
