    Hi all

I had my front BBK fitted today. Pretty happy after the first couple of km's. It pulls up really, really well. Much, much faster than it can accelerate. The pedal is well firm and it just feels kind of how you might imagine very goods brakes to be, but x 2!

I reckon it'll probably get even better once the new front pads bed in too.

So when the new VWR 2 x piece rear rotors arrive in a few weeks I'll get that done and thats the brake department done.

I also had the new AW7 BT module fitted over the weekend. Chalk and cheese compared to the OEM version. I now get all BT music info, all phone and directory details etc, plus a keypad appears on the RNS510 screen as well as all the other options/details etc... Its a new world for me!

looks so hot, makes my DBA T3 slotted I just installed look cheap. Are those KWS coilovers? How are those vs the stock R36 suspension?

              Hi all

The wheels are OZRacing "Vittoria" 18 x 8". Same size as stock. I had the suspension done last year - KW V3's, K&R sway bars and WhiteLine bushes replacing every single bush. I had to roll the guards as I was getting some tyre rub, its mainly fixed it up.

The VWR BBK (with 2 x piece VWR rear slotted discs and labour costs) came it at about $5k - which is about $3k less than the same things from Brembo, except these ones have the VWR logo which I kinda prefer anyway - that and it was a plug 'n play fit too - zero issues with clearances, mounting points misaligning etc... OEM parts fit best!

I recently bought a damaged R36 front grill in carbon fibre. I had that fixed up and fitted now... I think its come up OK. I'm removing the bonnet wrap soon - it was cheaper than a resprayed bonnet at the time (stone chips).

And I've changed every exterior globe to LED apart from the steer-assist one, for some reason that socket hates LED's CANBUS or not, makes no difference!

Anyway, pix tell a part of the story! So, heres a couple...

I gotta say, the brakes are simply amazing! Had a bit of a squirt today, enough to get the front brakes to smoke off al the oils/residue from being new.

The stopping power is incredible. The pedal feel is just so right and the pedal feedback is brilliant. But the stopping power is just sensational, its a total relearn for braking distances etc now - the first few times I braked late at speed to make a bend, I had to reaccelerate up again to reach the corner, such is the braking power. Now, late braking is just so much different from the stock OEM system its ridiculous!

You can also feel the weight removal from the wheels significantly through the steering wheel, the front wheels certainly change directions easier...

So yes, its been an expensive upgrade, and yes, its probably overkill for an everyday driver, but its well worth it in my opinion anyway. The car just drives so much better and it feels much more confident on the road, in wet and dry.

So the total running gear rebuild (V3's, bushes, sway-bars, HALDEX, wheels & BBK) has been around $13k which is where I expected it to be, and also where I budgeted it to be too, so I'm very happy with the finished result!

like the brakes. i'm a big fan of brake bling personally.
what are the specs in terms of size vs standard brakes? number of pistons?

also like that the colour is the same as oem (or appears the same in the photos) keeping the theme of "R" cars having the light blue calipers

                            Waz

The callipers are 6 x piston and the front slotted discs are 360mm two piece with an aluminium hat. The colour is the VWR Blue, but its way brighter on the new callipers when compared to the rears! I'm sure they'll dirt up soon enough!

The rear slotted two piece discs are not on yet, waiting on their delivery. I'll get the chance to clean up the rear callipers then too - try to match the new front ones!

I was going to go with Brembo's, but it wasn't going to be a plug 'n play upgrade - this was, took about 30 mins per side, plus no need to tell the insurers as the parts are OEM.

                            Highly recommended!

Part number? Same as the Mk5 and mk6 Rs?

Don't do too much late brake as the cars behind yours probably don't have the same braking power as yours, lol
