R36 DRL's

Well I bit the bullet and decided to install some DRL's on the R36. I spent hours finding the right ones but they are good quality metal frames. Now I know that it isn't everyone's taste and to be honest, I am a little conservative about it still but I'll see if they grow on me. I found some that have pretty much the same curvature of the grills so it turned out good in that sense. The other thing that I didn't want to do was cut the grills, just in case I wanted to take them off at a later date so they stick out ever so slightly than where I would like to have had them but I can live with it. I tried a couple of different wiring methods but in the end I just piggybacked a fuse in the drivers side fuse box after I eventually found a place to get access through the firewall. Anyway, they are as bright as all the euro DRL's and I have made them dim when the lights come on. I did have the choice of turning off. Here are a couple of pics. Didn't bother with them turned on as everyone knows what they look like but if there is a call for it, then I guess I can take one with them on but it will have to be when I have the car out of the garage next.

They look schmick! Can I ask where you got them/how much etc?

Some tinted front indicator lenses might look nice with the DRL's too!

I got them off alibaba. Just search for NSSC 523HP and they'll come up. Got them for about $80. They look good when they are on and seen from a distance

Nice v8snerlo. Looks good, especially since they curve around.

I've toyed with the idea myself, but wish there was an option that fit next to the indicator.

Would really love to see pics with them on.

I've never seen the top option before. Very nice. I assume the LED's alternate between white and orange when the indicator is on?

I must say though the S6 option looks really good as it seems to extend the width of the grey/black plastic cover.

Yeah, I have been trying to find the ones in the blinker unit but they are like rockinghorse s__t. Impossible to find. I know some have made them but I have seen some osram ones that they did about 4 years ago but I assume they don't make them anymore as I haven't been able to find them, plus I cant read Russian. When the blinker turns off the LED's fade back on. Here is the video I found that I like.

Looks really smart, but for now, these will do and I challenge anyone to get some for cheaper than I got them!! Anyhow, I got a couple of shots with them on late this arvo. They are below.

Yeah, they're not too bad. The only issue with the S6 lights as per a couple of posts ago is space. I have seen the S6 lights, and although they are a good bit of kit, they are expensive, and there will be bumper cutting to fit them in. I couldn't fit mine in the absolute bottom slot without doing some modifications, which I didn't want to do, so, each to their own. Just thought I would share my latest upgrade. Now, to investigate LED interior lights!

They're not overpowering but they match the colour of the xenons nicely. Have a look for a thread i started just recently about it. The ones that you see here are my second purchase so have a read of the install and you'll get the idea. Also done the puddle lights and rear number plate although the plate ones are a little too bright for my comfort. Gonna look at a resistor or something to try and dull them down. Really easy and cheap mods to do. They're all in separate threads i started. Looking into the interior ones now when i get my allowance up!

I've got led parkers but not very happy with the brightness & colour. Yours seems about the right colour temp.
Also Got warm white leds in my interior as it suits the mood of the interior and not overly bright white.
If you're interested, you can also change your turn signals to led. I did mine last year and I had a video of the install somewhere but I'll have to dig it up. Some wiring changeover is required as the +/- are the other way around for our R36.

Keen to see where you got the interior lights from mate. Yeah, I don't want them to light the interior of the car up so that it is daylight. I like the current light output, but would just like it to be white, that's all. I haven't investigated whether they need to be canbus friendly either. Will get around to it eventually.
