  • R36 19' Load Rating

    Hi all,

My 2008 R36 sedan is placarded with:

    235/45 R17 94W
    235/40 R18 95Y

Therefor, to fit 19' rims, what tyre load rating is required? I cant find any tyres with a load rating above 91 in 235/35 size.

Could page516 of this workshop manual be the answer though?

    Thoughts?

      Oh, ok.

      What brand rims and tyres?

Any issues with clearance on the guards?

I have VMR710. Clearance- front is fine. The rears require 1.5 deg of camber to avoid rubbing.

Thanks mate. No doubt it looks hot!

I imagine the rubber is pricey though?

          Any issues with insurance?

Not too bad on the rubber and no hassles insurance as a +1 fitment is totally legal.

Without much in the way of haggle I have done Contisport 5P and now Hankook Ventus Evo 1 S2 as 5P was not available. $300-400 a corner fitted, balanced and with a real 4 wheel alignment. Both very good tyres though the Contis are a little softer and bite a little better in the wet.

it has been debated before and VW Australia confirmed 91Y for 235/35/19 is what R36's should wear.

Same as the Passat CC that wear 19's
