That's a lot of options gone. I've got the Adaptive Cruise Control on my Alltrack (nearly 12 months old) and I don't think I'll ever buy another car without it.

My interest in a new Passat has also been discontinued.

Yeah.. it's a little disappointing. Are they aiming for a cheaper market?

Is this going to be the B8?

Well I would have considered another Passat when the B7 is old enough but they don't seem to care about the pointy end of the market where people want options!

Might just have to reconsider that RS4 again

glad i ordered when I did....

                    * The optional electric glass sunroof has been discontinued (sedan only) - thought about it, ordered it, then changed mind when realised there was no 100% blockout blind.
                    * The optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) has been discontinued - test drove car with this, didn't like it. wears out brake pads too apparently!
                    * The optional adaptive chassis control system has been discontinued - got it. well, std on Highline, assume it will remain that way?
                    * The optional Dynaudio premium audio has been discontinued - apparently this is an unloved option. i wouldn't have it any other way, the cost is WAY less than going aftermarket to get results as good. Aftermarket you can go many steps better again, but you'd be talking $3K++ minimum just to match it.
                    * The optional Ornamental wood decorative inlays have been discontinued. not shocked. does look okay with the beige leather if that is your thing.
                    * The optional 12 way electric adjustable front seats with memory has been discontinued - got it. well, std on Highline, assume it will remain that way?
                    * The optional sport package has been discontinued. would not have bought our car without it. the std seats are way too much like lounge chairs for me.
                    * New design for BlueMotion Technology badge. there's a badge ?

except for the fact it is longer, heavier and has less power of course...

Well if you are paying over 50k for a large euro sedan/wagon you are going to want some flashy options/standard inclusions which the MY14 Passat range no longer include.

Maybe they want to cannibalize the Skoda market instead of the Audi market?

most of the stuff removed as "options" from the lower spec models is standard on the highline still.
