AM radio reception after window tinting

Hi All,
I had the windows in my MY13.5 Passat tinted last week. Today I noticed the AM reception was crap. I was in a good reception area. Is the AM antenna in the rear window? If so, will tint film degrade AM reception?

Look for possible damage re connections to windows.
Does the rear window demister work?
Can't see how film would upset AM reception. would have greater affect, if any, on FM
So how is your FM reception?
Try and see how many FM stations are available, should be a lot, including low powered local stations.

Thanks for the replies. My car is a sedan. FM reception is unaffected.

I did some research and metallised films do affect AM reception: Regulation - For Your Car
I don't know if the film I had applied is metallised tho. I'll find out.
I still need to find out where the AM antenna is mounted.

It'll be in the rear glass.

AM reception has always been poor in European cars. There simply isn't a real need for AM where the cars originate from, so it's always been an afterthought.

Thanks. The AM reception was fine before the window tint though. I will talk to the tinters.

Yeah I've heard of that problem before. Metallic tints apparently also affect the effectiveness of etoll tags etc as well.
