Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • non-HID low beam bulb (dipped beam) not working, but bulb is fine

    Hi folks,
This one has been bugging me for a while, I've got a RHS low beam light thats not working on a 2007 Passat 103TDi with the accompanying MFD message about it.

Thought no worries its just a bulb so picked up a set of replacement Osram bulbs and changed it (fiddly process but got there), turned lights on and didn't work... tried the other bulb and didn't work (thinking now its just bad luck two dud bulbs)... thought I'd try the supposedly dead bulb in the other headlight and it worked; checked other bulbs.. working too.

Figured right its got to be a fuse, discovered the Passat's book fuse layout is wrong and various resources online either refer to only those used for HID or fuses that just aren't there.. ARGH!!

Has anyone else had this, or could they tell me which fuse panel and fuse number it is please to test this; or any other ideas on cause and resolution; or is it a trip to my VAG mechanic or auto-sparky?

    Cheers
