I got all of my DynAudio upgraded speakers from here: https://jku.com.au/

He's also one of this sites sponsors I believe. Very nice guy, great service and very fast deliveries etc. Don't be put off by the QLD location, I'm in Sydney and I couried up my RNS510 for an upgrade/service etc and I think the whole turnaround was 1 week only - not so bad!

I've also seen the front 3-way units on English eBay site too. They're not cheap, but the SQ is certainly worth the efforts. I didn't bother with the amp etc, the wiring loom is a nightmare to install evidently. I also did the rear woofers and I have the tweeters ready to go in but I've not done it yet.

I have a spare set of front tweeters that cost me $200.00. They're brand new, never used and I don't need them anymore, if you're interested in them drop me a PM and I'll see if I can dig them up for you.

Its not an easy install to do all four doors, but it certainly is worth it. The clarity is sensational and that just with the OEM amp which is only about 25wrms per-channel at best. Its more than loud enough for me anyway, I'm a film/TV sound recordist for a living and I need my ears to work properly. Anything above volume level 24/25 the amp starts distorting and that would damage the speakers if you went any higher for long periods of time. The max I use is volume at 23 or so - thats plenty loud for me!

Good luck with the search, it took me quite a few weeks to source all the speakers, and the install took all day too, but its worth it!

He revived my bricked RNS510 - great service

Got a quote for a 2nd-hand system + install (I'm in BNE). Will probably go with this one.

What type of car was it? Do you know if the wiring is already in place for an R36? They have the "premium" monsoon system with a 250W amp under the passenger seat and 10 speakers (like the Dynaudio system).

I have a fully optioned (apart from the DynAudio) 2010 R36 wagon. I've no idea what a "Monsoon" system is either, my car has the RNS510 sat/nav unit and as far as I know, that was the standard option when ordering the car from new.

I'd very much doubt that the DynAudio wiring loom would be fitted to a car without the rest of the system as a "ticked" option on ordering. I got quoted around $1k for the loom alone from JKU and I can't see VW fitting the higher spec loom to all cars unless the order specified it. Car makers rarely, if ever, install excess equipment without charging for it somewhere!

I have some sort of an electronic device under my drivers seat but I'm told its the BlueTooth unit... it seems awfully large for a BT unit, but thats what I'm advised it is - it sure looks like an amp, but whatever...

Good luck with the hunt, and lemme know if you want/need the front tweeters!

Do you have an amplifier underneath your passenger seat? It should have a plastic cover over it and looks like this one. From what I understand, that is the 8-channel 250W 'premium audio' system that drives 10 speakers. The RNS-510 output is amplifier (low) level and is wired to the amp under the seat with the 10 speakers coming off that.

AFAIK - all R36 Passats should have this? My R36 (sedan) is a 2008 model and the premium system is mentioned in the brochure, maybe something changed between 2008 and 2010?

I'm trying to dig up a reference to something I read about being able to swap out the amp and speakers with Dynaudio gear without re-wiring... maybe I imagined it.

Hmm, It's difficult to see the unit under my drivers seat, its just a big metal box with a bunch of cables coming out of it... I guess it could be an amp, but as I mentioned earlier someone advise me that it was the BlueTooth unit - I just don't know to be honest!

I'd suggest you speak with Martin at JKU, he's an expert on all of these things and will be able to advise you accurately.
My car technically has 10 speaker - 3 in each front door and two in each rear door.

Remember, cheap advice can be expensive! Go to an expert and follow what they advise!

              Good luck with the hunt!

Drivers side is Bluetooth. And yes it is massive for what it is. A large part of the size is the styrofoam carrier it sits in.

Thanks, you're right about cheap advice! Martin @ JKU sure knows what he's talking about.

The amp should be on the passengers side. You need to remove the cover to access it.
There are a few posts in the following thread (and around the place) about being able to swap the amp out for a Dynaudio one: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...zes-88708.html

I have a front set of factory dyns from a B7 that I got for a good price. I'm not too worried about the rear speakers and am happy to to leave them stock as I don't sit in the back seats. It sounds like fitting the factory amp and wiring to run these could be pricey and bit of a pain. Can I fit the front dyns then run them with a good quality aftermarket amp using high level inputs from the RNS510?

                      Hi

Well, to my surprise I DO have an amp under the cover under the passengers seat! Now I AM thinking about an amp upgrade... is it a plug & play install, or is there more to it?

Hmm... what are your thoughts on this?

=) the connectors appear to be same, but I'm trying to dig up a wiring diagram. Here's one for the Dynaudio amp: http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/aktio...mentId=687335& .. the standard 250W amp is part number: 3C0-035-456-K (still trying to find the connector diagram for that one).

I'll let you know if I discover any more info.

                            Thanks =)

So according to that link, the standard 8-channel pinouts match the 10-channel Dynaudio system and you should be able to just plug'n'play the 10-channel DA amp, replace the speakers and recode (in theory).

I remember reading something about the (10) Dynaudio speakers being 8 Ohm vs the (8 ) "premium" speakers being 4 ohm, which may cause the amp to work harder and possibly cause issues/errors...

The different impedance values will make little to do difference - as long as all 10 speakers are the same impedance. So, the next trick is finding two DynAudio amps for the right price!

I've seen them on eBay US for US$800.00ish, but then the freight is US$350.00??? Thats crazy!

JKU quoted AU$1,800.00 - each too!

Why do you need 2 amps?

You can get them brand new for ~$800 on ECS Tuning.

I've seen second hand ones for ~$500 on eBay. Aliexpress also have cheaper ones ~$300-400 (trustworthy?)
