Hey guys,

I am in the market for an R36 Passat and drove to Sydney today to have a closer look at this particular model at McCarolls in Waitara: 2009 Volkswagen Passat Type 3C R36 MY10 Direct-Shift Gearbox 4-Motion Cars For Sale in NSW - CarPoint Australia

Might anyone on this forum have knowledge of this car, and advise whether it is a good purchase or to steer away from it.

Hi mate,
Web Photo 2 tells me that the joint of the bumper and guard dose not look like original. maybe need to ask why it's out of alignment.
Web Photo 7, what's the white plug hanging there around the left foot rest?
What else did you findd out?

Car is well equiped RNS510, RVC and sunroof.

I didn't post any of my findings as sometimes it annoys forum members, but here goes:

- Both RHS and LHS front bumper was un-clipped from guards, RHS had very loose indicator
- Tow hook aperture had been removed/replaced at some time and doesn't seem to fit quite right
- LHS rear bumper has same issue, un-clipped from guard
- LHS rear section of side skirt doesn't quite match up to front section and rear wheel well
- DS lower seat bolstering non-existent

Otherwise, all main panels were great, some curbing to LHS wheels, interior was very good and the car ran well.
When I asked about all this, the reply was, "It's a used car, what do you expect."

there is another one, blue wagon, looks in mink condition but with 92k kms on it.

IMHO shop around for one that has been looked after.
These are a premium car and should be cared with as such.

There is chance this car may have been in a bingle.
A good inspection will be able to tell if it has been in a crash.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I might have a bit more of a look around, colour really isn't an issue (except for white), as long as I get one that has been looked after as mentioned. I'm not in a big rush to buy, but this was one that I thought might be the exception.

The quest continues, and I'll keep you guys posted with future developments...

I started serious looking for a 2010 MY10 R36 wagon in blue or white with very low kms from August 2013, now I got one, well will pick up in one week.

I was a little worries about buying mine as it has high KM's. But I bit the bullet and went for it anyway. I couldn't be happier, still drives like new, always serviced, no problems what so ever. These cars are made very well, and not your usual rubbish.

Mine will be forsale in November with 180k KM's on it, but I guarantee it will be the cheapest R36 wagon in Australia at the time.
